The Optical Tension Device is designed for pulling OPGW fiber cable to final sag tension. Once the final sag has been achieved, a permanent type dead-end device should be installed promptly, followed by the removal of the tensioning device.

  • Designed for OPGW cable with a diameter range of 0.350" – .820" (8.9 mm – 20.8 mm)

  • Load rating of 50% of the rated breaking strength of the OPGW or 5,000 lb (24.4 kN), whichever is less

  • Body and keeper are made from a high-strength aluminum alloy

  • Pivoting hardened steel eye bolt assemblies allow for quick installation of the device onto OPGW

  • Spherical nuts and washers of the eye bolt assemblies prevent unequal load distribution on the keeper

  • Steel bail is angled to allow clearance between the OPGW and the hoist and prevent damage to the OPGW during tensioning

  • Double lock nuts and cotter pins prevent the bail from pulling out of the body while being tensioned

  • Various designs are available to accommodate OPGW manufactured by specific suppliers
